Sony FE 28-70mm f/2 GM Lens (Sony E)

Sony FE 28-70mm f/2 GM Lens (Sony E)

Rent the Sony FE 28-70mm f/2 GM lens. Features a constant f/2 aperture, fast XD Linear AF, minimized focus breathing, and premium G Master optics for hybrid shooters.

The Sony FE 28-70mm f/2 GM is a flagship standard zoom lens designed to replace a full set of prime lenses for both photographers and filmmakers. As Sony’s first G Master zoom to feature a ultra-fast, constant f/2 maximum aperture, it offers a full stop more light gathering and background isolation than traditional f/2.8 zoom lenses while maintaining a portable, well-balanced form factor.

Engineered for modern hybrid production, this lens delivers exceptional corner-to-corner sharpness, near-silent autofocus, and video-centric ergonomics like de-clickable aperture control and minimal zoom extension.

Key Features

• Constant f/2 Maximum Aperture: One full stop brighter than standard f/2.8 zooms, offering exceptional low-light performance and extreme control over depth of field and subject isolation.
• G Master Optical Excellence: Incorporates XA (extreme aspherical), Super ED, and aspherical glass elements with Nano AR Coating II to maximize resolution while eliminating flare and ghosting.
• Rapid, Quiet Autofocus: Four XD (Extreme Dynamic) Linear Motors deliver high-speed, precise AF tracking supporting high-speed burst shooting up to 120 fps and video frame rates up to 240 fps.
• Hybrid Video Design: Features an integrated de-clickable aperture ring, optically minimized focus breathing (with support for Sony camera Breathing Compensation), and a floating focus system for consistent sharpness down to a 1.2 ft minimum focus distance.
• Gimbal & Handheld Ready: Extends only 0.7 inches across the zoom range and features a rear-weighted balance profile, minimizing the need to re-balance gimbals or stabilizer rigs when changing focal lengths.
• Weather-Sealed Build: Professional dust- and moisture-resistant construction with a protective front fluorine coating and dual programmable focus hold buttons.
